Mark Myhal
Mark Myhal earned a Ph.D. in Exercise Science from The Ohio State University in 1999. His dissertation work focused on the adverse functional changes that occur in skeletal muscle as a result of growing older, and interventions that slow this process. Other areas of study included muscle and endocrine physiology, nutrition, metabolism and body composition control.
Mark has a over a decade of university teaching experience involving exercise labs, undergraduate and graduate level classroom instruction, and the physiological testing of varsity athletes. He has first authored a book chapter published in a clinical endocrinology series entitled, “Hormones as Performance-Enhancing Drugs” that was written for the purposes of educating health care professionals about ergogenic aids. In addition to training at Metro Fitness, Mark is an instructor at The Ohio State University in the Section of Health and Exercise Science, gives invited lectures on sports supplements, and orporate lectures on health and wellness, addressing issues related to the prevention of Type II diabetes, obesity, cancer and heart disease through exercise and dietary intake.
Mark has been developing fitness programs for men and women with varying levels of training experience for the purposes of improving their muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, mental focus and/or overall wellness since 1996. In addition he possesses a solid understanding of the causes and exercise related treatments of diabetes and obesity.
